Although we are aware that we have an impact on the environment, both as people and as accommodation, we try to do our best to reduce it. We know the historical-environmental situation we are living in, and we believe that big changes start (also) from the small gestures of individuals; after all,
"What we do is just a drop in the ocean, but the ocean without that drop would be smaller".
We will gladly gather suggestions along the way to ensure that we can always improve.
recycle
Recycling reduces the need for extracting (mining, quarrying and logging), refining and processing raw materials all of which create substantial air and water pollution. As recycling saves energy it also reduces greenhouse gas emissions, which helps to tackle climate change. We recycle and Pachamama Community will recycle too!
We use different containers to select and separate the waste produced and the guests are invited to do the same.
eco cleaning
Globally, billions of litres of chemicals and supplies are used for cleaning purposes every year. The result is that thousands upon thousands of chemical contaminants can be found in our waste water. At Pachamama, most of the products used for cleaning are environmentally friendly and on tap, meaning that the container is always the same and is refilled each time with (eco) product. The benefits of sustainable cleaning:

🌱No plastic bottles: filter jugs are available to prevent guests from buying bottles.
🌱Showers are provided to avoid guests buying disposable bottles.
🌱No plastic cups.
🌱No disposable plates and cutlery.
🌱We provide our own shopping bags, so that you don't have to buy one per guest.

Wasting food has a huge environmental and social impact, and in establishments like a Surfhouse this often happens: people buy food at the beginning of the week and then often find themselves eating out, leaving it to rot in the fridge. At Pachamama we try to reduce this bad practice by encouraging the Pachamama community to only buy the food they actually consume.
